The “World in Portland” Project is a collaboration between Portland Public Schools (PPS) and Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The collaboration connects directly to PPS’s newly adopted Comprehensive Plan by seeking to prepare students for success in their academic, professional, and civic lives by developing their capacity and proclivity for deep engagement, meaningful communication, and innovative problem-solving across contexts. The project will support leaders and teachers K-12 to build on existing practices that develop students’ global competence and deepen students’ understanding across disciplines. The project will draw on community assets as resources for learning in global and local contexts.
